Residential Support Worker – Children’s Services

Salary: £15.25 per hour (£31,720 basic for 40 hours) + £65 per sleep-in
OTE: £35,000 – £37,000+ (including sleep-ins and overtime)
Location: Kempston, Bedfordshire

Overview

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting Residential Support Workers for a brand-new children’s residential home in Kempston.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the founding team, helping to establish a nurturing and therapeutic environment supporting up to three young people aged 8–18 with EBD, mental health needs, and complex trauma histories.

This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference while helping shape the culture and values of a newly established service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting

• Build positive relationships that support emotional wellbeing and development

• Support young people with daily routines, education, and activities

• Work in line with therapeutic approaches including trauma-informed care

• Promote positive behaviour and provide consistent boundaries

• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for young people

Requirements

• Previous experience working within a children’s residential home is highly desirable

• NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People & Families or willingness to work towards this qualification

• Full UK driving licence

• Must be 21 years or over to meet regulatory requirements

• Flexibility to work a shift pattern including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
