Service Type: 4-bed Supported Living Service for Young People (16–18)

The Opportunity

Joneshouse Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Home Manager to lead a 4-bed supported living service in Milton Keynes supporting young people aged 16–18.

This service supports young people transitioning into independence, including those with emotional, behavioural, or complex needs. The focus of the service is to provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can develop life skills, confidence, and independence as they prepare for adulthood.

This role is ideal for a strong leader with experience working in Ofsted-regulated environments who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people.

About the Role

As Home Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the supported living service.

You will lead and support the staff team, ensure high standards of care and safeguarding, and maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements while promoting positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Service Management

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the supported living service

  • Ensure the service operates in line with Ofsted standards and best practice

  • Promote a positive culture focused on safety, independence, and wellbeing

  • Ensure the Statement of Purpose is implemented effectively

Young People’s Support & Safeguarding

  • Ensure young people receive personalised support plans that promote independence and emotional wellbeing

  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing safeguarding concerns appropriately

  • Oversee risk assessments, behaviour management plans, and safety strategies

  • Support young people in developing life skills, resilience, and community engagement

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, guidance, and safeguarding policies

  • Ensure the service is inspection-ready at all times

  • Conduct regular audits, file reviews, and quality monitoring

  • Implement improvement plans to maintain and enhance service quality

Staff Management

  • Recruit, develop, and supervise staff in line with safer recruitment practices

  • Deliver regular supervisions, appraisals, and training

  • Lead team meetings and encourage reflective practice

  • Manage staff rotas to ensure safe staffing levels

Partnership Working

Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including:

  • Local authorities

  • Social workers

  • Education providers

  • Health professionals

  • Community agencies

Ensure effective communication and timely reporting with all professionals involved.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Manage service resources to maintain a safe and welcoming environment

  • Oversee budgets, occupancy levels, and financial performance

  • Ensure the home meets health and safety and accommodation standards

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience working in Ofsted-regulated services (children’s residential or supported accommodation)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership or deputy management role

  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience managing safeguarding concerns

  • Experience supporting young people with EBD, complex needs, or vulnerable backgrounds

  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young people

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

  • Flexibility to participate in on-call responsibilities

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards it)

  • Experience working within supported accommodation services for 16–18-year-olds

  • Knowledge of pathway planning and independence frameworks

Additional Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Full UK driving licence preferred

  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
