Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £43,014 per annum
Contract: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
The Opportunity
Joneshouse Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Vocational Studies Teacher (Construction) to join a specialist education setting in Doncaster.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver practical, hands-on learning that helps students develop valuable vocational skills for employment and future education.
The successful candidate will inspire confidence in students through engaging lessons that make learning practical, accessible, and meaningful.

This specialist education setting supports students aged 14–16 who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education, including those at risk of permanent exclusion due to behavioural or emotional needs.
The school provides a safe, supportive, and structured environment, with a focus on personalised learning and vocational pathways designed to re-engage students in education.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging vocational construction lessons to small groups and individuals

Prepare teaching materials and ensure the safe use of tools and equipment

Support students in developing confidence, independence, and practical skills

Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment

Assess and mark student work while monitoring progress

Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and professionals supporting the student
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Experience
-
Experience teaching vocational subjects such as construction methods or related practical skills
-
A minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a SEND or specialist education setting
Skills & Knowledge
-
Strong understanding of supporting students with SEND or behavioural needs
-
Ability to engage students through practical and hands-on learning approaches
Qualifications
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) is desirable but not essential.
