Randstad Education is currently seeking a passionate Drama Teacher to join a thriving creative arts department at a secondary school in Ipswich. Whether you are an experienced Drama Teacher seeking a fresh opportunity in Suffolk or an ambitious Early Career Drama Teacher eager to build a strong foundation, this position provides a fantastic studio space to share your theatrical expertise.
You will join a welcoming department with dedicated performance spaces, working alongside colleagues who collaborate closely to make the performing arts accessible, engaging, and inspiring for every pupil.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Engaging Drama Lessons: As an impactful Drama Teacher, you will plan and deliver lively, practical sessions across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE), exploring script analysis, physical theatre, improvisation, and stagecraft.
Full Curriculum Ownership: Take charge of full class responsibilities, including lesson preparation, practical demonstrations, ongoing assessment, and GCSE performance preparation.
Foster Studio Confidence: Create an inclusive, supportive studio environment where pupils are encouraged to express ideas, collaborate respectfully, and build theatrical skills.
Productions & Extra-Curricular: Support school plays, drama clubs, and showcase events to enrich the vibrant creative arts culture across the wider school community.
Maintain Safety & Standards: Ensure performance spaces and technical stage equipment are managed safely while upholding high standards of behavior and participation.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for an articulate, creative Drama Teacher with strong subject expertise and excellent classroom leadership.
Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
Proven track record of working as a Drama Teacher within a UK secondary school setting.
Outstanding communication skills to motivate pupils of all abilities and build performing confidence.
Effective classroom and practical studio management strategies grounded in positive reinforcement.
Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
