Job Title: Youth Assembly Coordinator
Organisation: Northern Ireland Assembly
Contract: Temporary (September 26 - March 27 with possibility of extension)
Hours: Full Time Hours (Mon to Fri, with regular out-of-hours, evening and weekend work required)
Salary: £44,039 per annum
We are partnering with the Northern Ireland Assembly to appoint a Youth Assembly Coordinator. The role of the Youth Assembly Coordinator is to support senior staff in the effective management of the Youth Assembly and line manage a Youth Assembly Support Officer. The Coordinator will work directly with young people aged 12-16, facilitating youth-led participative projects, delivering events and supporting democratic engagement in Parliament Buildings.

What we need from you
- Availability for the start date of 28 September 2026
- Full flexibility for 37 hours per week including regular out-of-hours, evening and weekend commitments
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced Access NI check

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, have: At least a primary degree, minimum 2.2 classification, in any subject (or an equivalent or higher formal qualification).
AND At least three years' experience in each of criteria a) - d) listed below:
OR At least five years' experience in each of the following:
- a) Taking the lead in the design and provision of participative youth-led projects where young people are helped to identify issues, make decisions and have their views heard.
- b) Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders such as colleagues, managers, elected representatives and external stakeholders to ensure a high-quality service. c) Providing excellent oral and written communication with internal and external stakeholders, including creating high-quality articles, reports, online content and presentations.
- d) Leading and managing individual staff members to ensure the quality, accuracy and timeliness of work.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating the day-to-day work of the Youth Assembly with young people aged 12-16, supporting skills development and creating inclusive decision-making spaces
- Developing and delivering online and offline events, including plenary debates in the Assembly Chamber and committee meetings
- Designing and delivering a structured training programme for members of the Youth Assembly
- Managing multiple youth-led projects concurrently to tight deadlines
- Maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure youth voices influence policy and legislation
- Drafting high-quality reports, briefings, articles and social media content to support decision-making and public engagement
- Assisting in the development, management and monitoring of key operational policies such as Safeguarding procedures
- Managing and developing staff members to ensure delivery of team objectives
- Managing information and records in accordance with statutory requirements and established policies
