About the role

We are recruiting an experienced Client Manager to join a well-established and growing Accountancy Practice based in North London. This permanent opportunity offers an excellent career path for an ambitious accounting professional who enjoys managing a portfolio of clients while leading a team in delivering exceptional accounting, tax and advisory services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing client relationships, reviewing technical work, identifying opportunities to add value, and supporting the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and high-net-worth clients.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Review statutory accounts, management accounts and corporation tax returns.
  • Provide accounting, tax and business advisory services to clients.
  • Attend client meetings and deliver practical commercial advice.
  • Review work prepared by junior team members and provide mentoring and coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client profitability and support business development initiatives.
  • Manage workflow to ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Support Partners with strategic planning and continuous improvement projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a UK Accountancy Practice.
  • Proven experience managing a client portfolio.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience using cloud accounting software including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.

Qualifications Required

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or Qualified by Experience where appropriate).
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Full right to work in the UK.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
  • Knowledge of audit planning and practice management.
  • Business development and networking experience.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior accountants.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Positive, proactive and client-focused approach.
