Job Description
Job Title: Technical Surveyor
Salary: £53,460 – £61,638 per annum
Grade: G
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
About the Department
The Facilities Management Team is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Council's corporate property portfolio, ensuring the buildings are safe, compliant and fit for purpose. The team consists of the Head of Facilities Management, Compliance Manger, Compliance officer, Delivery Manager, Operations Manager, Information Hub Leader and officers, who work collaboratively to deliver an efficient and customer focused service.
The team works closely with externally appointed hard and soft Facilities Management contractors, procured through the Council's procurement process, to deliver planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, cleaning, security and other essential building services across the estate.
About the Role
As a Technical Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
- Responsible for the Building Services aspects to fully meet the annual requirements of the Council’s revenue and capital programmes.
- To comply with data protection legislation and the council's Information Security Policy including supporting policies
- To be willing and able to work in a flexible and agile way with regard both to hours of work and location of work, including remote and home working, as required, subject to service needs and requirements
- To participate in performance development, talent reviews and one-to-ones and to contribute to the identification of your own and team development needs and goals
- To actively promote and comply with the council's diversity and equality policies
- To ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc., the council's Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work
- To fully understand and be aware of the commitment to Section 17 'Duty of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to prevent crime and disorder'
- At the discretion of the senior management, to undertake other activities as, from time to time, may be agreed consistent with the grade and nature of the role
- To undertake and maintain relevant mandatory training in line with legislation
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Detailed knowledge of Technical Services for full range corporate building types, electrical, mechanical and surveying
- Detailed knowledge of building regs and statutory requirements within, electrical, mechanical and health and safety
- In depth knowledge of cyclical maintenance servicing contracts
- Ability to write technical specifications
Essential qualifications:
HNC/HND or degree level equivalent in electrical, mechanical, building services surveying
DBS Check: N/A
