Group Board Member – L&Q

Location: London

Remuneration: £22,877 per annum

Time Commitment: The formal time commitment is approximately 3 days per month, including Board and briefing meetings. L&Q also encourages Board members to spend time visiting communities and engaging with residents and colleagues on an informal basis, to deepen understanding of the organisation and its impact.

This position is not open to employees of the L&Q Group and its subsidiaries.

The Role:

L&Q is one of the UK's largest housing associations, providing homes to more than 250,000 residents. Our purpose is to provide social homes and landlord services that everyone can be proud of.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to join our Group Board and Chair our Asset & Development Committee at a pivotal moment for both L&Q and the housing sector.

As a Group Board Member and Committee Chair, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across one of the country's largest housing portfolios. This is an opportunity to influence major investment decisions affecting both the stewardship of existing homes and the delivery of new homes and regeneration projects that will serve communities for generations to come.

The Asset & Development Committee plays a critical role in supporting the Board's oversight of asset management, investment, development, regeneration, sustainability, building safety and long-term portfolio performance. As Chair, you will lead the Committee in providing robust challenge, scrutiny and assurance, ensuring that L&Q's homes remain safe, good-quality and fit for the future whilst supporting the delivery of a substantial development and regeneration programme.

L&Q is making significant long-term investments in its existing homes through a £3 billion major works programme, whilst continuing to deliver large numbers of much-needed affordable homes each year. The successful candidate will help oversee the strategic balance between investing in existing homes and creating new homes and neighbourhoods, ensuring that resources are deployed effectively to maximise resident outcomes and social impact.

We are interested in candidates who have held senior executive, non-executive or equivalent leadership positions within large and complex organisations. You will bring significant experience in strategic asset management, property, development, regeneration, infrastructure, construction or major capital investment programmes and have a track record of leading at scale.

Whether your experience has been gained within housing, real estate, local government, infrastructure, regeneration or another asset-intensive environment, you will understand the opportunities and challenges associated with managing large portfolios, long-term investment decisions and complex stakeholder relationships.

You will bring strong strategic judgement, commercial acumen and the confidence to provide effective challenge at Board level. Most importantly, you will share L&Q's commitment to delivering long-term value for residents, communities and future generations.
