About the role

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and able to manage a busy and varied workload?

We're looking for a Data Protection Advisor to join our team and play a key role in ensuring we meet our legal obligations under data protection legislation while delivering an excellent service to residents and colleagues.

What you'll do

As a Data Protection Advisor, you'll be responsible for managing the end-to-end process for Subject Access Requests (SARs) and supporting the delivery of Social Tenants Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) requests. You'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify, retrieve, review and disclose information within statutory deadlines, ensuring all requests are handled accurately and compliantly.

You'll conduct searches across a range of systems, coordinate the collection of records, assess information for disclosure, apply appropriate exemptions and redactions, and provide clear, professional responses to residents. You'll also support colleagues with data protection enquiries, maintain accurate records, produce management information and performance data, and help ensure the organisation continues to meet its obligations under UK data protection legislation.

This is a fast-paced role where you'll need to manage multiple requests of varying complexity, work collaboratively with stakeholders across operational, legal and support teams, and take ownership of cases from receipt through to completion.

What you'll need

  • Experience of managing your own workload and prioritising a high caseload of work with varying levels of complexity.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering excellent service.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Experience working within the housing sector.
  • Experience in data protection, information governance, privacy or managing information requests.
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
