Location: Ontario, Canada (Remote)Openings: 1Job Type: ContractDuration: 1 YearRate: $48-53/hourHours: 40 hours/week Project: NuclearSeeking a civil engineering professional with experience in the construction, concrete and steel construction to support the project. Essential Responsibilities:
Lead the development, evaluation, and approval of concrete mix designs, including review of batch plant/Constructor submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable industry standards.Prepare, review, and maintain concrete material, installation and construction specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes and standards, quality assurance programs, and nuclear regulatory requirements.Demonstrate extensive knowledge of reinforced concrete-related codes and standards, including but not limited to ACI 318, ACI 349, and relevant ASTM standards.Familiarity with applicable Canadian CSA standards, including CSA A23 series especially CSA A23.1, CSA A23.2, CSA N291, and CSA N287 series, and other related nuclear concrete standards, is highly preferred.Possess proven experience in the nuclear construction industry, with strong knowledge of high-density concrete mix design, testing, production, placement, and quality control. Experience with radiation shielding concrete is considered a strong asset.Prepare, review, and approve concrete-related engineering and construction documents, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Concrete Construction Plans, Thermal Control Plans, and other technical procedures.Perform engineering analyses and provide sound engineering judgment for concrete-related issues associated with complex, safety-related, and first-of-a-kind nuclear structures.Coordinate and lead technical discussions with owners, constructors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders regarding concrete design, construction, quality, and technical compliance.Prepare, review, and respond to concrete-related Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Design Change Requests (FDCRs/FDDRs, as applicable), technical queries, engineering transmittals, and non-conformance reports.Support concrete construction activities by developing and reviewing concrete placement (pour) plans and participating in pre-placement, post-placement, and quality review meetings.Prepare and maintain design basis documents, engineering analysis reports, and technical evaluations to support concrete mix design modifications, specification revisions, and design changes, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, licensing requirements, and project specifications.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues while maintaining the highest standards of nuclear quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Additional desired Skill:
Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), containment pressure testing, and aging management is considered an asset.Working knowledge with ASME Section III Division 2, and ASME Section III Division 1, and ASME Section XI Division 1, is considered an asset.Hands-on experience with containment liner design, evaluation, and related engineering activities is considered an asset.Knowledge of concrete Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and repair techniques
