About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join our successful Transport Infrastructure team.
This senior role will play a key part in shaping and delivering innovative, sustainable and future-ready transport solutions across the UK. You will contribute to all stages of project delivery, from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
Working collaboratively across the business, you will support the successful delivery of projects, contribute to business growth and help drive the development of the wider Transport Infrastructure team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of transportation and highway infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to business development activities and support growth opportunities.
- Undertake complex technical, professional and commercial project activities.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams.
- Manage medium-sized projects or multiple smaller projects with complex requirements.
- Manage project scope, programme and commercial performance.
- Act as a technical lead within your area of expertise.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng, IEng or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications
- MSc/MEng or other relevant postgraduate qualification.
Essential Experience
- Leading civil engineering design projects.
- Detailed knowledge of highway design standards and delivery processes.
- Commercial and project management.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams delivering a wide range of transportation and highway infrastructure projects. You will play an important role in project delivery, business development and team leadership while helping shape the future growth of the business.
You will work throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.

- Manage teams delivering medium to large infrastructure projects with complex technical requirements.
- Ensure project quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
- Support the identification, development and winning of new work.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance across project teams.
- Review reports, designs, calculations and technical outputs.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support business development and growth initiatives.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support strategic objectives.
- Mentor, coach and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
