Randstad Education is currently seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to support secondary schools across Bedford. This role is perfect for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced youth leaders who excel at managing group dynamics and want to gain versatile, hands-on experience in the classroom without the burden of lesson planning or marking.

You will step into various classrooms across the school day, ensuring setting routines are maintained, work is completed, and pupils remain on task in a safe, productive environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Delivery: Oversee pre-set lessons across a range of subjects, delivering instructions clearly and guiding pupils through their assigned work.

  • Positive Behaviour Management: Maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment by applying the school's behaviour policies consistently and fairly.

  • Student Support: Assist pupils with queries regarding their tasks, encouraging focus, active participation, and independence.

  • Feedback & Handover: Collect completed classwork at the end of each session and leave structured notes for returning subject staff.

  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of pupils at all times while upholding school values and standards.


Candidate Profile

We are seeking a confident communicator who approaches new challenges with a calm, dynamic attitude.

  • Prior experience working with secondary-aged young people (e.g., coaching, youth work, tutoring, or prior school support) is highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to command respect and establish quick rapport with students.

  • Excellent adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and a reliable work ethic.

  • A solid standard of general education (degree level or equivalent experience preferred).

  • Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
