About the role

Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be the exclusive recruitment partner of a well-established manufacturing organisation in Dewsbury on the appointment of a Strategic Buyer to join their Procurement team.

This role will assist and support the strategic procurement team in the identification and management of suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, reliability, and customer service.

This is a full time and permanent role with a 37.5 hour working week. Hours are flexible and can accommodate a start time between 07.30-09.00 depending on preference. Early Friday finishes on offer from 1.30pm. 

 

The Role of Strategic Buyer:

  • Proactively manage a selected set of allocated suppliers
  • Manage own supply base.
  • Use data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Identify, implement and manage NDA and LTA for selected portfolio of suppliers.
  • Develop key working relationships with suppliers via regular review meetings on performance, using Supplier Scorecard to align to Metrics, and renegotiate for improvements.
  • Supporting supply chain activities relating to new product introduction, ECN changes, SBD programs.
  • Manage supplier price files and review any proposed changes with Procurement Manager.
  • Assist in onboarding and smooth implementation of new suppliers, both internally and externally
  • Resolve invoicing issues via D3.
  • Work with internal department to identify, improve, or resolve supply issues.
  • Assist in Net Freight opportunity management and Incoterm changes to ensure the best mode of freight is determined and used
  • Develop a good tactical and strategic knowledge of supply base.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure the performance of the section is optimised.
  • Preparing and maintaining action plans to support principal accountabilities.
  • Lead and/or participate in specific project work.

The Person/Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a Procurement role
  • Open to both transactional and strategic procurement backgrounds
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
