About the role
Are you a passionate, resilient, and empathetic educator looking to make a genuine difference?
A fantastic, inclusive mainstream school in Romford is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their thriving, well-resourced SEN department this September. This is initially a temporary contract for the Autumn term, but for the right candidate, it holds a strong opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
You will be working closely with students across various key stages who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
Adapt learning materials alongside class teachers to ensure lessons are accessible and engaging.
Manage challenging behaviour with patience, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
Foster an inclusive environment that boosts students' confidence, independence, and social skills.
Track and report on student progress, collaborating closely with the school's SENDCo and external specialists.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth work settings).
Qualifications: A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 3, Team Teach, or moving and handling training) is highly desirable but not essential.
Attributes: A calm demeanour, excellent communication skills, and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
Compliance: You must hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
Why Join This School?
Fair Pay: Fully AWR-compliant pay scale, ensuring your rate increases after the 12-week qualifying period.
A highly supportive and welcoming SEN department with a passionate SENDCo.
Excellent internal training and professional development (CPD) programmes.
Great transport links across Havering, Essex, and East London.
The genuine potential for long-term, stable career progression into a permanent school contract.
How to Apply
If you are ready to start a rewarding new chapter this September and help students reach their full potential, we want to hear from you! Please apply as soon as possible.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates will be subject to strict compliance and vetting checks.
