About the role

SEND Support Workers & Teaching Assistants - Newmarket

Are you looking for a meaningful career move where your experience in care, support work, or education can make a genuine difference? Whether you want to manage your own week with flexible day-to-day shifts or prefer the stability of a dedicated, long-term placement, we have excellent positions available to suit you.

We are actively seeking adaptable Support Workers and SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team, working across various specialist schools, alternative provisions, and academy trusts throughout Newmarket and the surrounding Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border region.

This is an ideal role for classroom assistants, residential care staff, or healthcare assistants looking to apply their transferable skills in a structured, school-hours environment.

Find the Way of Working That Fits Your Schedule:
  • Daily Supply Cover: Keep your calendar completely flexible. You choose the days you want to work on a week-by-week basis, giving you the chance to experience different local provisions.

  • Ongoing Placements: If you prefer consistency, we have roles spanning a term or a full academic year. This allows you to become an anchor for a specific class, truly understand the pupils' communication frameworks, and celebrate their progress over time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offering dedicated 1:1 or small group guidance to learners with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) profiles.

  • Helping the class teacher deliver interactive, sensory-based, and practical learning tasks aligned with individual education plans.

  • Creating a reassuring, safe space by utilising positive behaviour support and calm de-escalation strategies.

  • Supporting pupils in developing their personal independence, functional life skills, and everyday communication tools.

What We Are Looking For:
  • A patient, grounded, and emotionally resilient personality-someone who remains a calm presence in challenging situations.

  • Prior experience supporting vulnerable individuals or children with additional needs (gained through professional care work, educational settings, or personal life).

  • Strong collaborative skills to work seamlessly alongside teachers, therapists, and existing classroom teams.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one immediately).

Benefits of Joining Our Team:
  • Excellent daily rates, processed and paid to you weekly.

  • Clear communication and a transparent service that respects your personal availability.

  • Free access to specialist CPD and safeguarding modules to build your SEND portfolio.

  • Guidance from a dedicated local consultant who knows the Newmarket, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire education landscape inside out.

Ready to transition your care and support skills into the classroom?

Take control of your working week while doing work that truly matters.

How to Apply: Please send your up-to-date CV and a brief summary of your background to [email removed] or call [phone removed] to chat casually about our active positions in Newmarket.

We are strictly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable young people. All candidates will be required to undergo comprehensive vetting, reference checks, and an enhanced DBS disclosure.
