Supervisor - Highways Maintenance

Our client is looking for an experienced Supervisor to join their highways maintenance team on the Isle of Wight. This role will oversee grounds maintenance, drainage, street cleansing and winter operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to agreed standards.

Location: Newport, Isle of Wight

Salary & Benefits

• £31,000 - £37,000 salary
• £4,300 car allowance
• Overtime and call-out earnings of £5,000 - £10,000 per year
• On-call rota: 1 week in 4
• Standby payment: £20.47 per day
• Weekend working: One 8-hour day every other weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise operational teams and subcontractors
• Coordinate grounds maintenance, drainage and street cleansing works
• Plan workloads and allocate resources
• Monitor performance, productivity and safety standards
• Respond to customer enquiries and complaints
• Manage materials, costs and day-to-day operational delivery
• Carry out site inspections as required

Requirements

• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
• Strong horticulture or grounds maintenance background
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Highways maintenance experience
• Drainage or street cleansing knowledge
• Winter maintenance experience
• Experience managing subcontractors
