Interim Financial Accountant (3–6 Month Contract)

£350–£400 per day | Outside IR35 | Sheffield | 3 Days On Site / 2 Remote | Immediate Start

Some interim roles need someone to keep the wheels turning.
This one needs someone who’ll help keep the engine running.
We’re working with a successful, PE-backed SME in Sheffield that’s heading into one of its busiest periods of the year.

With the annual audit on the horizon and a finance team that’s already operating at full capacity, they’re looking for an experienced Interim Accountant to provide an extra pair of hands and make an immediate impact.

This is a business that moves quickly.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be supporting an experienced finance team through a demanding period, helping ensure everything is audit-ready while keeping day-to-day finance running smoothly.

Expect to get involved in:

• Preparing audit schedules and supporting the external audit process.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and month-end activities.
• Financial reporting and analysis.
• Supporting year-end preparations.
• Tackling backlog where needed and strengthening controls.
• Working alongside the Financial Controller and wider finance team on whatever needs doing.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be sat in one lane.
It’s about rolling your sleeves up, spotting what needs attention and getting stuck in.

What we’re looking for
You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with previous interim experience and the confidence to hit the ground running.

Ideally you’ll have:

• Strong year-end and audit support experience.
• Experience working within SMEs or PE-backed businesses.
• A hands-on approach and the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent technical accounting skills.
• The confidence to prioritise in a busy, fast-moving environment.
• Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys solving problems rather than waiting to be asked.
