I’m currently working with a specialist children’s service to recruit Residential Support Workers for a unique setting that combines both care and education on one site.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with Autism and associated needs, within a structured and supportive environment.
This service supports children and young people aged 8–19, many of whom have communication needs and benefit from tools such as SmartBox technology, PECS, and visual aids. You’ll play a key role in helping them develop independence, confidence, and life skills.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll be part of a close-knit team providing high-quality, person-centred care. You’ll support young people both within the home and, where required, in their educational setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a safe, nurturing and structured environment
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Supporting care plans and adapting to individual needs
- Assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning and routines
- Acting as a key worker for allocated young people
- Supporting education and activities, including classroom support where needed
- Promoting independence, life skills and community engagement
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people at all times
- Maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation
- Working collaboratively with families and external professionals
What I’m Looking For
- Experience working with children and young people (ideally with Autism or additional needs) – Experience with elderly personal care would also be considered
- A genuine passion for delivering high-quality care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible approach to shift work (including sleep-ins)
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)
Qualifications
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care (if not already held)
What’s on Offer
- Competitive hourly rates with enhanced night pay
- Structured rota offering a strong work/life balance (3 days on, 4 days off)
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- Supportive team environment
- Opportunity to progress within a specialist care setting
- The chance to make a real, lasting impact on young people’s lives
If you’re looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same, and you want to be part of a service that truly changes lives, I’d love to hear from you.
