About the role
Admin Officer
Location: Sheffield Magistrates Court S3 8LU
Pay: £12.86 per hour, increasing to £13.25 after 12 weeks
If you're someone who enjoys keeping things running smoothly, supporting people with care, and bringing structure to busy days, this is a great opportunity to join a supportive team in a customer-facing administration role. Hiring for a reputed client on a full-time basis, office based in Sheffield.
What you'll be doing:
* Undertake administration to prepare for, facilitate and support a range of hearings
* Provide clear customer service to users and stakeholders face to face, by telephone (incoming and outbound) and via correspondence in different formats
* Use service scripts and knowledge articles to signpost relevant support and answer queries accurately-especially where needs may be complex
* Follow complaints policies and procedures, supporting users through processes and helping prevent escalation where needed
* Process work using standard operating procedures to meet performance targets and maintain service standards
* Handle case files with accurate data entry and secure information management, following retention and data loss protocols
* Support jury service activities including selection, deferral, reassignment and attendance tracking, plus processing related expenses and court fees
* Assist with listing and scheduling, respond to urgent matters and adhere to listing policies
* Support enforcement procedures including financial assessments, aiding fine collection and producing basic statistical/financial reports
* Contribute to health & safety operations (e.g., PEEPs, facility checks, issue logging and key/safety governance under guidance)
What you'll bring:
* Strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate clearly and consistently
* Confidence handling enquiries sensitively, including users with complex needs
* A careful, process-driven approach to administration and data accuracy
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow standard operating procedures
* Positive attitude under pressure, supporting users to participate effectively in justice
Additional information:
* Working pattern: 37 hours, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm (office based)
* Assignment length: 5 months (end of Dec 2026) with possibility of extension; start ASAP
* Clearance: Basic DBS required
* Training: on-the-job training provided
