About the role

We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant for a school in Sevenoaks that cater for all age group students. They have a lower school, middle school, upper school and 6th form. This is an outstanding school by Ofsted who work towards helping students re-integrate into mainstream learning and preparation for adulthood. All of the learners have Education, Health and Care Plans and as a school they are proud to promote the development of life skills and social development as equal to academic achievement. Successful SEN Teaching Assistant will need to have a car and be able to drive to various locations. The main purpose of the role is to support students with their social, emotional, behaviour and mental health needs by working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, throughout the school under the management of Line Management and working together alongside the teacher as relevant. To be considered for the SEN Teaching Assistant role you will need to: • Have previous SEN or healthcare experience • Be patient and caring • Be able to drive • Have a strong behaviour management Main duties of SEN Teaching Assistant will be: • To work with Line Management to provide appropriate guidance, support, set boundaries and nurture the students whilst they attend the school and any off site provisions • To be adaptable and think on your feet, always keeping in mind the end goal for the students you are working with • To support students with their education, providing in-class support and 1:1 environments as directed by the teacher • Support social interaction between students at social times as guided by your Line Manager • Support students when they are out of lessons, including those who abscond • To lead by example, acting as an appropriate positive role model to all students remembering that the children are vulnerable and impressionable. Always ensure that students receive a fresh start every lesson and every day • Support teachers to best meet the needs and requirements of the students' education Term Time Teachers are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore all applicants will be subject to a full face-to-face registration and an Enhanced DBS (Formerly known as CRB).
