Job description

The Security and Online Harms (SOH) directorate leads the Government's work to make the UK safer online while supporting a free, open and innovative digital economy. We are responsible for implementing and developing the UK's online safety framework, including the Online Safety Act, working closely with Ofcom, industry, civil society and international partners.

The Strategic Planning & Operations (SPO) team sits at the heart of the directorate, supporting senior leaders to run the organisation effectively. We lead on business strategy, financial and workforce planning, briefing and correspondence, and other corporate operations, helping ensure that the directorate can deliver its ambitious objectives.

Person specification

Key Responsibilities

Manage diaries of SOH's Director and Deputy Director, scheduling meetings, arranging logistics, preparing papers, and maintaining agendas to support delivery of business priorities.

Act as a key point of contact and build strong relationships with Private Offices, external stakeholders, and colleagues across DSIT to support effective delivery.

Support the Private Secretary with secretarial duties for SOH's Director, such a inbox management, email correspondence, cross-directorate coordination, and policy support.

Essential Criteria

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Good judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Desirable Criteria

Experience of providing executive support or diary management to Senior Civil Servants (SCS).

An interest in public policy, online safety, technology or digital issues.

Office attendance
