Children’s Support Worker – SEN School Based
Location: Darlington
Contract: Term-time only
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30, Monday – Friday
Start: September start available

Role: Children’s Support Worker – SEN School Based
In this role, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, manage their needs, and develop confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all school policies and safeguarding procedures
- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to pupils’ individual needs
- Support pupils with additional needs, including autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties
- Assist with behaviour management using positive and consistent strategies
- Help pupils regulate emotions and develop social skills
- Adapt learning activities to support engagement and understanding
- Support with personal care where required
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
Essential Criteria (Non-Negotiables)
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
- Understanding of SEN, including autism and/or SEMH needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team
- Comfortable supporting personal care if required
- A compassionate, flexible, and proactive attitude
