Practice Nurse (Locum) – Primary Care

Location: Caerphilly
Contract: Ongoing Locum (2 Days per Week)
Rate: £20 – £24 per hour (DOE)
Start: Immediate / ASAP

Overview

We are currently supporting a GP practice in Caerphilly with the requirement for an experienced Practice Nurse to provide ongoing locum cover.

This requirement has arisen due to long-term sickness absence, offering a stable and consistent opportunity within a well-organised primary care environment.

The role offers regular weekly sessions with a focus on structured immunisation and diabetes management clinics.

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful clinician will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care across the following areas:

Childhood Immunisations

• Delivery of scheduled immunisation programmes (where competent)
• Patient and parent education in line with national guidance

Chronic Disease Management

• Diabetes reviews and structured care planning
• Ongoing monitoring and patient support

Treatment Room Activity

• Wound care and dressings (as clinically appropriate)
• General treatment room duties within competency

Preventative Care

• Health promotion and patient education
• Support with long-term condition optimisation

Requirements

• NMC-registered Practice Nurse
• Proven experience within primary care settings
• Competent in childhood immunisations
• Experience in diabetes and chronic disease clinics
• Confident working autonomously within a GP practice
• Experience using EMIS, SystmOne, or Vision
• Enhanced DBS

Working Pattern

• 2 days per week (flexible scheduling)
• Ongoing requirement due to sickness cover
