Advanced Nurse Practitioner  – Primary Care Locum Cover (3-Month Contract)
Location: Torquay
Rate: £45 to £50 per hour (Outside IR35)
Duration: Ongoing cover for approximately 3 months
Start: July

We are currently seeking an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to support a well-established primary care service requiring consistent clinical cover over the next three months.

Role Overview

The successful clinician will be responsible for the autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions within a primary care setting.

You will be expected to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider clinical team, ensuring safe, efficient, and evidence-based care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently assess and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated and diagnosed conditions
• Request and interpret diagnostic tests where appropriate
• Prescribe within your clinical competence and scope of practice
• Manage minor illness and long-term conditions
• Provide clinical advice, treatment plans, and appropriate onward referrals
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with NHS standards
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and wider MDT members
• Support safe and effective patient flow within the service

Essential Requirements

• NMC registered Nurse with ANP qualification or equivalent advanced practice training
• Proven experience working in primary care or urgent care settings
• Independent prescribing qualification (V300 or equivalent)
• Strong clinical decision-making skills and confidence managing undifferentiated presentations
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Up-to-date clinical governance, CPD, and mandatory training

Desirable Experience

• Experience using EMIS / SystmOne clinical systems
• Background in GP surgery or urgent treatment centre settings
• Experience managing high patient turnover clinics
• Minor illness and long-term condition management exposure
