Senior Project Planner - GlasgowWe are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to join a high-profile programme based in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning, scheduling, and controls functions of complex projects within a highly regulated environment.Contract DetailsLocation: Glasgow (City Centre) Contract Type: Inside IR35 Security Clearance: BPSS required initially, with eligibility to obtain SC Clearance Eligibility Requirements: British Citizen holding a valid British Passport Must not have lived or worked outside the UK for any significant period during the last five years due to security clearance requirementsThe RoleAs a Senior Project Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analysing integrated project schedules to support successful programme delivery. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will ensure robust planning processes are in place, providing accurate reporting, schedule analysis, and performance insights throughout the project lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain project structures including:Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) Organisational Breakdown Structures (OBS) Resource Breakdown Structures (RBS) Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS)Create, baseline, and maintain integrated project schedules (Levels 1-3), ensuring alignment with associated Level 4 and Level 5 schedules.Ensure integration and consistency between scheduling tools and the organisations financial and material demand planning systems.Perform regular schedule updates and analysis, providing key performance metrics including: Critical Path Analysis Total Float Analysis Schedule Performance Reporting Impact AssessmentsProduce and maintain: Schedule Risk Analysis Schedule Variance Reporting Resource Profiles Earned Value Management (EVM) Data Scheduling Maturity Assessments Planning and Controls Framework Reporting Archived Schedule RecordsSupport effective resource planning and utilisation to meet project objectives and customer commitments.Identify, manage, and communicate project risks, issues, and opportunities.Contribute to and monitor quality management processes, ensuring compliance with organisational standards and project requirements.Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and communicate requirements, priorities, and project impacts.Proactively assess risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise project disruption.Experience, Qualifications & Skills Essential ExperienceExtensive recent experience in a Senior Planning or Project Controls role within a complex engineering, construction, infrastructure, defence, or similar project environment.Strong understanding of project planning across the full project lifecycle, from bid and tender stage through delivery and project close-out.Advanced expertise in scheduling software such as: Primavera P6 Microsoft Project (MSP)Experience in: Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis Forensic Planning Earned Value Management (EVM) Critical Path Analysis Resource Planning and Forecasting Schedule Performance AnalysisKnowledge of industry-standard contract frameworks such as: NEC FIDIC JCTQualifications Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in: Engineering Project Management Construction Management Or a related disciplineProfessional qualification or membership such as: APM AcostE RICS Or equivalent Technical Knowledge & CompetenciesAdvanced Expertise Schedule Management Development, baselining, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated project schedules to support informed decision-making and project delivery. Resource Management Identification, planning, and optimisation of resources including personnel, facilities, materials, and equipment throughout the programme lifecycle.Strong Working Knowledge Budgeting & Cost Control Managing project budgets, forecasts, and actual costs against approved baselines, including the application of performance measures and tolerance management.Project Reviews Understanding and application of legal, regulatory, and organisational review requirements throughout the project lifecycle.Change Control Establishing and maintaining robust change control processes to effectively manage project scope, schedule, and cost impacts.Contract Management Understanding contract structures, statements of work, supplier obligations, and commercial implications for both contracting organisations and delivery partners.This role offers an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Project Planner to contribute to complex, high-value programmes while working within a collaborative and professional project controls environment.
