Accountant

An established charity in Cardiff are now recruiting for an Accountant on a permanent basis. This is a part-time position, suitable for someone looking for 21 – 25 hours a week. The hourly rate is £20.38 per hour.

This role is responsible for a range of accounting duties and acts as a key role in the operation of the wider finance function. This is an opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, excellent digital skills and a passion for efficiency and process improvement.

Accountant duties

• Support with preparing annual budgets and quarterly management accounts preparation.
• Involved with annual audit process.
• Preparation and update of the organisation financial cash flow.
• Analysis of the monthly payroll breakdown and allocation of the salary and pension costs to the projects department.
• Maintain and reconcile aged debtors and aged creditors reports, proactively resolving outstanding balances.
• Prepare and post accruals and prepayments journals as part of the quarter-end process.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring correct depreciation and disposal records.
• Maintain and manage the Purchase Ledger, ensuring timely processing and payment of supplier invoices.
• Oversee the Sales Ledger, including raising invoices and credit control.

Accountant person specification

• Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role with experience of month end processes.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Confident user of systems and accounting software.
• Proactive in identifying areas of improvement in the team.
• Willing to explore and put forward ideas to improve processes, including an openness to new technology.
• Be able to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Have a good eye for detail.
