About the role

SENIOR SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

Salary: NJC Scale 4, Points 7 to 11 (£26,403 to £28,142 per annum FTE). Actual salary £23,158.48 per annum on point 7.

Contract: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08.00 to 16.00 and Friday 08.00 to 15.30. Term Time plus training days plus 5 days to be worked during school closure periods (40 weeks per year)

St Peter’s School, as part of The Cam Academy Trust, is seeking to employ a Senior Science Technician to work within our busy science department.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Senor Science Technician to join our friendly, supportive, and outward looking team of teachers and technicians. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the college’s students receive a high-quality science education by providing resources and practical equipment for lessons.

Duties will include the managing of the technician team to ensure preparation and maintenance of equipment and materials required for demonstrations and practical experiments; administering stock control; ordering procedures and assisting students and staff in the classroom, ensuring that health and safety regulations are met.

With a background in science, you will have high professional standards and a methodical and organised approach. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working as a Science Technician in a school environment, and a firm understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation, including COSHH regulations.

The successful candidate will be organised and self-motivated, show a willingness to learn, be self-motivated and have a high level of accuracy and proficient IT skills. They will enjoy working in a large team and be able to form strong relationships with team members and students.
