About the role

Do you believe that every child deserves to be known, encouraged and supported to achieve their best?

At Mapperley Plains Primary and Nursery School, positive relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We are a warm, inclusive and ambitious school where children are encouraged to be kind, be curious and be their best. Our children deserve adults who combine genuine care with high expectations and who recognise that confidence, wellbeing and successful learning go hand in hand.

We are looking for a caring, skilled and enthusiastic Grade 4 Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will be someone who notices when a child needs encouragement, knows how to remove barriers to learning and takes pride in helping children become increasingly confident and independent. In return, you will join a supportive team that works closely together and is determined to give every child the strongest possible opportunity to succeed.

We encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our children, our values and life at Mapperley Plains.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work predominantly in KS2, working alongside teachers to support high-quality learning within the classroom. They will adapt support to meet children’s individual needs and deliver targeted learning activities for individuals and small groups, including children with SEND or additional needs.

This is a practical and rewarding role in which relationships matter. The successful candidate will help children engage positively with learning, develop their confidence and become more independent.

The role may occasionally include leading planned learning activities for groups or classes. Any whole-class cover will be clearly defined and based on learning planned by a teacher.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • has experience of supporting primary-aged children
  • builds positive relationships and holds high expectations for every child
  • can adapt support for children with different needs and starting points
  • can deliver planned learning activities and targeted interventions confidently
  • promotes positive behaviour, independence and emotional wellbeing
  • works effectively with teachers and other colleagues
  • shares our commitment to safeguarding and our values: Be kind. Be curious. Be your best.
