Legal Secretary – Litigation

Swindon (with occasional travel to other office locations if required)

TSR Legal is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm for a Legal Secretary to join its busy Litigation team in Swindon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised legal professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, delivering exceptional client service, and providing first-class administrative support to a successful litigation team.

The Role

Supporting the Head of Litigation and wider department, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the team by providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing fee earners’ diaries and appointments
  • Preparing files for billing and closure
  • Opening and maintaining client files using the firm’s case management system
  • Preparing correspondence through digital dictation and transcription
  • Drafting and formatting legal documents and client correspondence
  • Handling incoming telephone calls and client enquiries professionally
  • Providing initial costs information and gathering information to open new matters
  • Managing emails, post, filing and document organisation
  • Preparing electronic court bundles
  • Liaising with courts, barristers, experts and third parties
  • Chasing outstanding client payments where appropriate
  • Supporting lawyers with a broad range of administrative tasks
  • Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with regulatory and data protection requirements

About You

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within Litigation, together with excellent organisational and communication skills.

You will also possess:

  • Previous Legal Secretary experience (essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to prioritise a varied workload and work to deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional and confident approach to client care
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • A flexible and positive attitude

A Legal Secretary Level 2 Certificate or Diploma would be advantageous but is not essential.
