Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) Kent £40,000 - £45,000 An SME building services firm is looking to appoint a Mechanical Engineer to join their team, based in Kent, on a part-time basis of 3 days a week. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking for genuine independence and responsibility within a flatter, less hierarchical structure. With fewer layers of management than a larger firm, you'll have direct exposure to clients and projects, clear progression plans, and support towards Chartership. The Role: • Producing mechanical designs across a range of building services projects • Preparing detailed designs, calculations, and specifications • Taking on greater independence and responsibility in project delivery, with direct client and project exposure • Working closely with colleagues and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification • Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure fully integrated designs • Ensuring designs comply with current building regulations and industry standards What's Required: • A degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent) • Proven experience in a mechanical building services design role • Strong working knowledge of relevant design software (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD) • Working towards Chartered status (e.g. CIBSE) would be an advantage • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently What's on Offer: • Salary of £40,000–£45,000, dependent on experience • 3 days a week working pattern • A flatter structure with fewer layers, offering genuine independence and responsibility • Clear plans to support progression towards Chartership • A supportive, close-knit SME environment Based in Kent, this role would suit a mechanical engineer looking to take on more ownership and responsibility, within a firm that offers a clear path towards Chartership.
