Pastoral Assistant – Enfield

Milk Education are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Enfield to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Assistant to join their pastoral team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with their wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development.

The successful Pastoral Assistant will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement and develop the confidence needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. The Role:

• Working as a Pastoral Assistant to support students with attendance, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Building positive relationships with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Providing 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions
• Supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges
• Monitoring attendance, punctuality and student welfare
• Liaising with teachers, families, safeguarding leads and external agencies where appropriate
• Assisting with behaviour management and promoting positive conduct throughout the school
• Supporting safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives across the school community

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience as a Pastoral Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker or Teaching Assistant
• Experience working with secondary-aged students
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
• Passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes

The successful Pastoral Assistant will join a dedicated pastoral team committed to ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Essential Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to Work in the UK
• Two professional references covering the last two years
• Relevant experience working with children or young people
