Attendance & Safeguarding Support Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Attendance & Safeguarding Support Officer to join our dedicated pastoral team in this exciting new role. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in improving student attendance, supporting vulnerable young people and contributing to our safeguarding culture.
This role sits at the heart of school life. Working closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, families and external agencies, you will help ensure that every student is safe, supported and able to access the education they deserve.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Attendance & Safeguarding Support Officer, you will:
- Lead proactive work to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
- Build positive and productive relationships with students and families.
- Conduct home visits and work directly with parents to overcome barriers to attendance.
- Monitor attendance data, identify trends and coordinate targeted interventions.
- Support the safeguarding team as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
- Maintain oversight of safeguarding concerns and ensure timely action is taken.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies to secure the best outcomes for students.
- Provide highly effective administrative support for safeguarding and pastoral services.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least two years relevant experience working in a similar role and with young people and families.
- Understands attendance, safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Is organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities.
- Can communicate confidently and sensitively with students, parents and professionals.
- Is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Has excellent administrative and ICT skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Can maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement.
Working Hours
7:30am to 12:30pm (Monday to Friday) term time plus 5 days (included designated training days)

Hampton College is an established all-through school (ages 4-19) located in Hampton Vale, Peterborough. It sits within Hampton Academies Trust (HAT) and works closely with neighbouring schools such as Hampton Gardens and Hampton Lakes.
