£30.03 per hour Umbrella (Cambridge) | £27.77 per hour Umbrella (Merthyr Tydfil)6-Month Contract | Highly Likely to Become PermanentOnsite Role | Security Clearance Eligibility RequiredMarshall Land Systems is seeking an experienced EMC Test Engineer to join their growing team supporting the delivery of complex deployable and containerised systems for defence and specialist applications.This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected engineering organisation on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of transitioning into a permanent position. The role will initially be based at Marshall's Cambridge facility; however, the Cambridge site is scheduled to close at Christmas, after which the position will relocate permanently to Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.The Role
As an EMC Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements throughout the manufacturing and delivery lifecycle. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and external suppliers, you will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and customer specifications.Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute EMC testing on production units in accordance with relevant standards and customer requirementsConduct both in-house and external EMC testing, including radiated and conducted emissions and immunity testingInvestigate EMC failures through root cause analysis and recommend effective corrective actionsReview designs, schematics and layouts, providing EMC guidance before production builds commenceProduce and maintain EMC test reports, certification records and compliance documentationEnsure EMC test equipment is calibrated and maintained to required standardsSupport audits, inspections and regulatory compliance activitiesCollaborate with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to embed EMC best practice into manufacturing processesDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EMC testing efficiency and complianceMaintain a strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
About You
We're looking for candidates with hands-on EMC testing experience within a manufacturing or production environment.Essential Experience & Skills:
Experience carrying out EMC testing on assembled systems or production unitsStrong understanding of EMC standards such as CISPR, IEC and MIL-STDExperience using EMC test equipment including spectrum analysers, LISNs and anechoic chamber equipmentAbility to diagnose EMC issues and implement mitigation solutionsUnderstanding of non-conformance reporting (NCRs) and root cause analysis methodologiesExperience producing detailed technical reports and compliance documentationAbility to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical specificationsKnowledge of PCB layout, cabling, grounding and shielding techniquesFamiliarity with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and EMC certification processesExperience working to production schedules and delivery deadlines

Must be willing to work onsiteMust be eligible to obtain UK Security ClearanceWillingness to relocate/work from Merthyr Tydfil following the closure of the Cambridge facility at Christmas
