Premises Manager – School-Based Opportunity A welcoming and well-established school in Edgware is seeking a proactive and reliable Premises Manager to ensure the school site remains safe, secure, clean and fully operational for pupils, staff and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced facilities, site or premises professional looking to play a key role within a busy educational environment. Working as part of a job-share arrangement, you will collaborate closely with a fellow Premises Manager to maintain high standards across the school and ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
The Role As Premises Manager, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, security and operational management of the school site. You will help create a safe and welcoming environment, supporting both the educational and operational needs of the school.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Opening and securing the school site as a keyholder.
✅ Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and property inspections.
✅ Managing site security, including gates, locks, alarms and CCTV systems.
✅ Conducting statutory compliance checks and maintaining accurate records.
✅ Supporting fire safety procedures, emergency lighting checks, fire alarms and evacuation processes.
✅ Liaising with and supervising external contractors to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
✅ Providing porterage support, including moving furniture, equipment and deliveries.
✅ Overseeing cleaning standards and coordinating additional cleaning requirements when necessary.
✅ Maintaining outdoor areas, ensuring they remain safe, tidy and accessible throughout the year.
✅ Responding to maintenance issues and helping to ensure the site is maintained to a high standard at all times.
About You The successful candidate will have:
  • Previous experience in premises, facilities, estates or site management.
    • Good practical maintenance and repair skills.
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
    • Strong organisational and communication skills.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • A proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • A commitment to maintaining a safe environment for children and staff.
Experience within a school or educational setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
