Childrens support worker

We are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated, and experienced Children's Support Worker to join our versatile team. This unique role is perfect for a practitioner who thrives on variety and adaptability, as you will be supporting children and young people across a diverse range of environments-including residential care homes, respite, and community outreach programs.

Your primary focus will be providing high-quality, person-centered care that promotes the safety, well-being, and independence of the children in our care. Because you will be moving between different settings to meet service demands, a high degree of flexibility and a strong foundational knowledge of child safeguarding are essential.

• Behaviour Management: Utilise proven de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support (PBS) to manage challenging behaviour safely and constructively.

• Daily Living & Independence: Assist with daily routines, educational tasks, independent living skills, and recreational activities to promote confidence and growth.

• Safeguarding: Act as a protective presence, strictly adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures, and identifying/reporting any concerns immediately.

• Collaboration & Reporting: Maintain accurate, confidential digital records and daily logs. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, teachers, and healthcare professionals.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following absolute requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of proven, verifiable experience working directly with children or young people in a professional care capacity.

• Social Care Wales Registration: You must hold an active registration with Social Care Wales (or be in the final stages of renewal/registration) and be fully compliant with the Code of Professional Practice.

• Clean Enhanced DBS: A valid, clean Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to undergo a new check prior to start).

• Full UK Driving Licence & Vehicle: Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have daily access to a reliable, insured vehicle for business use (travelling between various settings is a core requirement of this role).

• Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.

• Training in recognised positive behaviour management/restraint reduction strategies (e.g., Team Teach).

• A resilient, empathetic nature with excellent communication and active listening skills.
