About the role
We are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to oversee a landmark portfolio within our infrastructure division. In this role, you will hold ultimate commercial accountability for multi-million-pound assets, driving profitability while ensuring compliance, robust cost control, and strategic supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership: Lead, direct, and mentor a dedicated team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QSs across major civil engineering work packages.
Contract Administration: Oversee strict governance and administration of major standard contracts (primarily NEC4 Options A, C & E, or bespoke regulated frameworks).
Cost Control & Forecasting: Direct accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow forecasting, and earned value management across complex infrastructure delivery models.
Risk & Change Management: Proactively identify, evaluate, and manage commercial risks, opportunities, and contract variations/early warnings to safeguard project margins.
Client & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the key commercial interface with major regulated clients, regulatory bodies, and joint venture partners.
Procurement & Supply Chain: Lead procurement strategies, high-value subcontract negotiations, and ongoing vendor performance management.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring a track record of driving commercial excellence in structured, process-oriented environments.
Experience: 8+ years of commercial management experience within major civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, nuclear, or utilities projects.
Contract Expertise: Deep, practical knowledge of NEC4 (and/or NEC3) contracts, including compensation events, target cost mechanisms, and pain/gain share frameworks.
Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent). MRICS or MCICES status is highly desirable.
Governance Focus: Demonstrable experience working under rigorous regulatory, safety, and compliance standards.
Leadership: Strong team management abilities with a track record of upskilling junior commercial staff.
Clearance: Ability to obtain appropriate security clearance
