About the role
Role: Family Court Adviser
Location: Newcastle (Work From Home / Remote & Court Presence)
Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing Contract
Funding: Special Ministry of Justice (MOJ) Child-Focused Courts & A1 Local Budget
Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker looking to focus purely on child-centred court assessments, voice-of-the-child advocacy, and high-level safeguarding without the demands of long-term local authority case management?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Family Court Adviser to join a dedicated team in Newcastle. Funded through a joint MOJ Child-Focused Courts and A1 local budget initiative, this post offers a market-leading hourly rate and exceptional work-from-home flexibility.
Why This Role Stands Out
Top Market Rate: Command a highly competitive rate of £38.00 per hour.
Work From Home Balance: Enjoy strong hybrid flexibility with home-based working for report writing and virtual meetings, alongside essential court appearances.
Specialised Funding: Backed by dedicated MOJ and local budget investment focused directly on child-centred justice and court innovation.
Core Responsibilities
Section 7 & Safeguarding Reports: Conduct thorough, analytical assessments and prepare high-quality court reports in both Public and Private Law care proceedings.
Voice of the Child: Engage directly with children and young people to ensure their views, wishes, and feelings are clearly represented within legal proceedings.
Expert Advocacy: Represent child welfare priorities clearly in family court settings, providing expert advice to magistrates and judges to inform safe, permanent decisions.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Liaise effectively with legal representatives, local authority social care teams, and external agencies.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
Professional Registration: Active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Post-Qualifying Experience: A minimum of 3 years' PQE in statutory Children's Social Care (Child Protection, Court Work, Looked After Children, or CAFCASS).
Court Competency: Demonstrable expertise in writing analytical court reports (Section 7, Rule 16.4, or care proceedings) and giving evidence in court.
