Synergy Personnel Services is instructed by a Top 50 UK law firm to appoint a Senior Associate or Partner into its expanding Intellectual Property team, with a focus on strengthening its presence across  Chelmsford.

This is an opportunity for a commercially astute IP lawyer to join a firm that views intellectual property not just as a legal discipline — but as a core business asset for its clients.

The Opportunity

Our client operates a national, full-service platform, advising over 10,000 businesses ranging from high-growth SMEs to multinational corporates.

The Intellectual Property team plays a central role in supporting clients to identify, protect, exploit and defend their IP assets, working closely with Corporate and Commercial colleagues to deliver joined-up advice.

With increasing demand driven by technology, brand-led businesses and innovation-focused sectors, the firm is investing in senior hires who can help shape and scale its IP offering regionally.

The Role

This is a broad and commercially driven IP position, spanning both contentious and non-contentious work.

You can expect to advise on:

• Trade mark, copyright and design rights protection
• IP portfolio strategy and brand management
• Licensing, franchising and commercialisation of IP assets
• IP aspects of corporate and commercial transactions
• Infringement disputes and enforcement strategies
• Reputation management and brand protection
• Supporting clients with international IP strategy and coordination

The team takes a proactive, strategic approach, helping clients maximise the value of their intellectual property while mitigating risk early.

About You

We are interested in speaking with:

• Intellectual Property Solicitors at Senior Associate or Partner level
• Experience across brand protection, commercial IP and/or IP disputes
• A strong commercial mindset, with the ability to translate legal advice into business outcomes
• Individuals who enjoy working closely with innovative, growth-focused clients
• Lawyers with connections in the  Chelmsford / South East market (helpful, not essential)

A following is advantageous but not essential, given the firm’s existing client base and internal referral network.
