The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK’s continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent (CASD), and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

The primary delivery location for this position is HMNB Clyde, Helensburgh, G84 8HL.

Job description

At the Submarine Delivery Agency, we're seeking a Through Life Support Training Requirements Manager to join our Training Group within the Chief Strategic Systems Executive (CSSE) Directorate. We are designing and procuring important capabilities for the Royal Navy.

Our Operational Delivery Through Life Support Function manages and delivers the tools, parts and in-service support (including the Individual Training of Royal Navy Personnel). Training Requirements Manager will be expected to accept the delegated responsibility for the Royal Navy Individual Training from Training Management Group.

As the Through Life Support Training Requirements Manager, you will be heading a multi-disciplined team of civilian Training Designers, a Royal Navy Subject Matter Expert and working collaboratively with government employees, contractors and military from both the United Kingdom and United States with a common approach to training.

Take the lead on the training design development and delivery for a systems approach to training within the CSSE Directorate Training Group. You will identify gaps in the training process and provide Training Needs Analysis (TNA) reports to shape the design and development of Individual Training for the System Individual Training Cadre.

Based at His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde, the Training Requirements Manager is responsible for overseeing the team, coordinating various MoD, Royal Navy, US Government, US Navy, Industry stakeholders and other parties, in order to deliver the Authority’s strategic intents. Additionally, you will set, maintain and oversee the necessary training requirements within your remit, determine the most efficient means of delivering against these requirements. This Role offers opportunities for regular and varied UK and International travel. Locations may include Naval Bases, military & training establishments, and industrial supplier’s premises.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Design, develop and create new training solutions where a new requirement or need is identified, to ensure the role requirements are met.
• Research and present new training methods and media, exploring technologies and methodologies for training.
• Experienced Learning Management System operator.
• Serve as management advisor conducting detailed analysis of all Systems, requiring specialised ability to correlate and corroborate information into reports and records.
• Review US Supplied courseware and identify appropriate media for inclusion into training courseware.
• Advise and produce course outline and production for planning and scheduling.
• Manage, monitor, maintain and review quality and accuracy of documentation and courseware.
• Ensure Defence Systems Approach to Training compliance in accordance with JSP 822 – Defence Direction and Guidance for Training and Education.
• Endorsing the Training Authority Document (TrAD) for System Training.
• Oversight of the Training Pipeline.
• Endorsing Training Design Review.
• Aligning the System Training & Professionalisation Evaluation Strategy.
• Oversight of System Training and Professionalisation Audits and Inspections.
• Endorsing the Statement of Training Tasks (SoTT)
• Act as the releasing authority for System Training Documentation.
• Support innovation to improve training quality and/or efficiency of System Training, striving for Continuous Improvement Assurance and Governance.
• Assist with the production of Quality Processes and documentation.

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

• A background of working in training analysis/design
• Experienced Manager of a Learning Management System
• Experience in delivering continuous improvement activities
• Experience in delivering at pace to meet challenging project milestones.
• An understanding in of the systems approach to development and design of training solutions
