Job description
This post will involve delivering fire safety management in some of the most iconic Government buildings in England and Wales. The role is dynamic, varied, and presents opportunities for accelerated professional development. The key purpose of the Fire Safety Delivery Manager role is to ensure effective fire safety management arrangements for GPA clients. The post holder will be part of an expanding national team of fire safety professionals, which forms part of the wider Assurance Team.
Key Responsibilities
The Fire Safety Delivery Manager will:
- Ensure that the GPA successfully discharges its statutory obligations, ensuring safe working environments for GPA clients and occupiers.
- Assist in the development of robust safe systems of work across all GPA activities, acting as a specialist for Fire Safety.
- Consult with key GPA client stakeholders on fire safety matters.
- Engage with relevant fire safety enforcement bodies, supporting inspections and audits.
- Provide advice and guidance on fire safety policy, technical standards and operational issues to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of a risk-based fire safety management programme.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks to maintain effective fire safety management across the GPA estate.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and key supplier contacts.
Person specification
We are looking for an experienced fire safety professional who is driven, able to deliver at pace, and can work autonomously when required. This role involves building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and so good interpersonal skills are needed. The applicant must have experience in a similar role, preferably delivering fire safety management in complex premises.
Experience & Technical Skills
Essential criteria:
- Level 3 Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.
- Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. IFE and IFSM.
- Experience of managing fire safety in complex premises.
- Experience of conducting fire safety audits.
- Experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders on fire safety matters.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Client Focus – ability to form strong working relationships and understanding of client needs.
- Team working – work collaboratively to build trust and rapport across the GPA.
- Communication & Influence – use a range of communication methods to achieve positive fire safety outcomes.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage own workload and provide updates to the Head of Fire Safety.
- Track record of maintaining continuous learning through CPD.
- Conversant with IT systems and the ability to analyse Management Information to inform decision-making.
Desirable criteria:
- Level 4 Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent
- Experience of conducting fire risk assessments.
- Experience of working in secure environments.
- Experience of managing fire safety in heritage environments.
Qualifications and Accreditations

- Level 3 Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent
- Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. IFE and IFSM.
Desirable criteria:
- Level 4 Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent
- Fire risk assessment qualification (IFE/IFSM recognised)
