Contract: Part-time (2 days per week, 14 hours)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

PK Education are working with a well-established secondary school in Barnsley who are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to gain valuable classroom experience or continue a career in education within a supportive and well-managed school. The role is ideal for aspiring teachers, graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors, or individuals with previous experience working with young people.

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning by delivering pre-planned lessons during teacher absences. You’ll work across a variety of subjects, supervising classes, maintaining positive behaviour, and supporting students to remain engaged with their learning.

The school has a strong focus on high standards, positive relationships, and student development, with clear behaviour systems and excellent support from senior leaders and teaching staff.

The Role

• Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4 during teacher absence
• Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain on task
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Supporting students with questions relating to the work set
• Recording attendance and reporting any concerns to teaching staff
• Assisting with other school duties where required, including exam invigilation

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, youth work, or similar setting
• Confident managing groups of students in a classroom environment
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
• A genuine interest in supporting young people’s education
