The Army Cyber Federation (ACF) is recruiting within the Army Hosting Environment (AHE) to lead and manage in the operation and defence of the Army’s critical systems, platforms and information, ensuring information confidentiality, integrity and availability in a rapidly evolving digital battlespace. The ACF is the focal point for coordinating activity to achieve cyber mission assurance, is rapidly evolving, and you’ll be an integral part of developing the Army’s defensive cyber capability using state-of-the-art tools, advanced analytics, and next-gen tech, helping the Army protect its critical assets against its adversaries.

Job description

This role will operate within a diverse environment with a blended workforce of Civil Servants, military personnel and industry partners reporting to a Grade 7 Civil Servant. This role will be pivotal to ensure the coherence of defensive cyber operations enabling the Army’s Freedom of Action.

Key responsibilities:

• To be confident when engaging with wider Defence, Government, and industry. Occasional travel within the UK, primarily to Corsham & Blandford will be required but this will rarely demand overnight stays.
• Drive the day-to-day operations in accordance with the Cyber Security Operations Manager strategic direction.
• Delegated responsibility as required for the coordination of Army’s Cyber Incident Response Capability.
• Provide operational updates to senior stakeholders to inform strategic decision making.
• Taking a proactive approach to problem solving, ensuring processes are continuously reviewed and improved.
• Line Management responsibility for up to 3 Civil Servant Security Operations Centre Analysts
• Functional management responsibility of all staff working within the AHE SOC including contractual resources, military workforce and civil servants.
• Ensuring supporting contracts are managed and renewed throughout their lifecycle.
• Development of processes to ensure processes are up to date and accurate.

Person specification

We are looking for an individual with the right attitude, managerial and technical competencies and the inter-personal skills necessary to own and develop the AHE Security Operations Centre within the ACF.

Essential skills required:

• Qualifications such as CySA+, GCIH or educated to degree level. Relevant bachelor's degree level education with a focus in Computer Science or Cyber Security.
• Exposure and understanding of Cyber Security Operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Enthusiastic and able to handle the pressure of coordinating a wide range of activities within the Cyber Operations profession.
• Must be willing to challenge established norms and process and be prepared to adapt to changing priorities.
• Good judgement and strong interpersonal skills.
• A positive and professional attitude.
• A team player, who can quickly establish themselves and lead improvements.

Desirable skills:

• 3+ years’ experience working within Cyber Security
• Experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence.
• Ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders.
• Qualifications such as CISSP, CISM & GSOM.
• Experience working within a Defence environment.
• In depth knowledge of SIEM tooling such as Arcsight & Elastic.
• Experience with managing and coordinating cyber security incidents.
• Experience of communicating technical cyber risks to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

CySA+, GCIH or educated to degree level (bachelor's degree with a focus in Computer Science or Cyber Security).
