We're looking for a Learning Delivery Officer Apprentice to join DWP's Learning Design and Delivery team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a rewarding career in learning and development while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

As a Learning Delivery Officer Apprentice, you'll play an important role in helping colleagues across DWP build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to deliver excellent public services. You'll learn how to facilitate engaging learning experiences, support learners with different needs, and create positive learning environments that encourage participation and growth.

You don't need previous experience in a learning delivery environment. We're looking for people with enthusiasm, curiosity, strong communication skills and a genuine desire to help others succeed. We'll provide the training, support and development needed to help you build your skills and confidence.

You'll join a supportive and collaborative team where you'll work alongside experienced learning professionals, develop valuable facilitation and coaching skills, and contribute to programmes that make a real difference to colleagues and customers across the UK.

Job description

As a Learning Delivery Officer Apprentice, you'll learn how to deliver high-quality learning experiences that help colleagues develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent customer service.

The role will involve:

• Delivering learning sessions through Microsoft Teams and in classroom environments, supported by experienced learning professionals.
• Building confidence in facilitating discussions, encouraging participation and supporting learners to achieve successful outcomes.
• Working with a variety of learner groups and adapting your approach to meet different learning styles and needs.
• Creating engaging and inclusive learning environments where colleagues feel supported to learn and develop.
• Collaborating with fellow Learning Delivery Officers, leaders and business stakeholders to deliver learning programmes.
• Developing coaching and feedback skills to support learners in embedding new knowledge and skills into their roles.
• Using learner feedback and business insight to continuously improve the learning experience.
• Taking ownership of your professional development, completing your apprenticeship programme and building your capability as a learning professional.

The role involves delivering learning remotely and face-to-face across multiple locations, and will require regular travel with occasional overnight stays.

Learning requirements

The DWP is committed to investing in people and developing a professional workforce. During your apprenticeship you will be asked to produce a portfolio of work demonstrating your learning which may include:

• Using different approaches to encourage effective adult learning;
• Identification of training or learning needs;
• Structuring learning to meet a variety of needs.

The Learning and Development Practitioner Apprenticeship is expected to take up to 18 months to complete, however the full learning journey for this role will take up to 24 months. You will be given time out from your role to work on your apprenticeship. You must be committed to seeing through the apprenticeship and completing the qualification within the appropriate time period.

You will be supported by your line manager, skills coach, fellow Apprentices and DWP Apprenticeship Team. You will have access to a variety of sources of encouragement to help you succeed. There is a lot to learn and do, so you need to be proactive, work hard and participate in the many opportunities you will be given to showcase your skills.

Please Note - Successful appointments to this role will be subject to completion of the apprenticeship programme. Failure to comply or failure to achieve the required apprenticeship may be dealt with under disciplinary or poor performance procedures and may lead to termination of the employment contract or exceptionally, redeployment into another DWP role.
