What does an English Teacher do?

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4

• Teach English Language, English Literature, or both depending on your specialism

• Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive

• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and promote positive learning attitudes

• Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to support development

• Inspire students to develop their reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills

• Build positive relationships with students and encourage a genuine interest in English

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider English department and school community

What we’re looking for:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience

• A degree in English or a related subject

• Strong subject knowledge across English Language and/or English Literature

• Experience teaching English at secondary level

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

• A passion for inspiring and motivating young people

• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

• ECTs are welcome to apply!
