£24413 - £25583 plus SEN allowance (£1455) Dependent upon experience and qualifications.
Classroom Support Assistant post, supporting children with a range of special educational and complex medical needs.
Chesnut Lodge School caters for pupils aged 2 – 16 years, with complex needs arising from physical and medical difficulties. Currently there are 84 pupils on roll. The school is well resourced and enjoys a high profile within the local community.
The Governors are seeking to employ a flexible Classroom Support Assistant with a positive attitude and a passion for working with pupils with SEN. The post will require staff to support all age ranges and abilities throughout the school in the classroom and following training with other roles such as behaviour management and administering medication. Following training, you will also be required to meet the intimate care needs, follow physiotherapy programmes and support swimming sessions. Candidates should note that this role will require them to physically get into the swimming pool to support swimming sessions.
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification in Early Years and Foundation Stage would be advantageous but should not preclude applications from those who do not hold an equivalent award.
This demanding and rewarding role will require good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both as a key member of the team and independently. The successful applicants will:

Have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding and respecting the roles and responsibilities of the different staff in school
Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate training programmes, including those required to meet the physical, including intimate care, feeding and medical care needs of the students.
