Senior Data Fabric Engineer

Our client, a leading Defence & Security company, is currently seeking a Senior Data Fabric Engineer to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis in Farnborough.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing, implementing, and evolving the event-driven data fabric architecture that supports automation and AI-based systems, including ingestion, integration, storage, processing, metadata, governance, and access patterns
• Building and operating workflow automation capabilities to enable repeatable, governed analyst workflows
• Delivering configurable data integration through curated connectors and standard transformation patterns
• Engineering for Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) communications environments, supporting local processing at the edge
• Building streaming ingestion, event pipelines, and batch/stream processing workloads using technologies like Apache Flink and/or Apache Spark
• Implementing metadata, lineage, and catalogue capabilities along with policy-based security and governance

Job Requirements:

• Extensive experience as a data/platform engineer working on distributed systems in production
• Proven hands-on experience with open-source data integration and streaming technologies
• Experience enabling workflow automation for technical users
• Strong grasp of data modelling fundamentals, data contracts, and schema evolution
• Experience designing for reliability, scalability, and operability
• Practical security mindset, with an understanding of least privilege, auditability, and designing usable controls
