About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commissioning Editor to join our editorial team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and commissioning high-quality content across various genres, ensuring that our publications maintain their reputation for excellence. You will collaborate with authors, freelancers, and other editorial staff to develop compelling material that resonates with our target audience. Your keen eye for new trends and the ability to forecast market demands will be essential as you curate a diverse portfolio of projects, from initial concept through to publication.
Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing and assessing proposals, providing constructive feedback to authors, and managing the editorial process from commissioning through to final production. You will be expected to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and innovation. Additionally, you will keep up-to-date with industry developments and competitor activity to ensure our offerings remain relevant and competitive in the market.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a relevant field, along with at least three years of experience in editorial roles, preferably in publishing or media. You should have a strong understanding of the publishing process, excellent project management skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, as you will be working closely with a variety of contributors.
