Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Backend / Full Stack Engineer to join a growing engineering team building and evolving a complex, production-grade fintech platform.

This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute from day one-designing architecture, building scalable systems, and delivering high-quality features across a modern full stack. You'll play a key part in shaping a platform that powers onboarding, payments, and compliance workflows across multiple markets.

What You'll Be Doing

Backend & Full Stack Development

• Develop and enhance features within a NestJS / TypeScript backend
• Design and implement scalable, secure RESTful APIs
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and optimise performance
• Contribute to frontend features where appropriate (React Native)

Architecture & Engineering Excellence

• Collaborate on system architecture and promote clean, modular design
• Write high-quality, well-tested code (unit, integration, e2e) using Jest
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based environments
• Uphold best practices in code quality, testing, and performance

Integrations & Compliance

• Build and maintain integrations with payment providers, identity verification, and open banking platforms
• Work within regulated environments, supporting KYC/AML workflows
• Handle event-driven systems, webhooks, and idempotent processing

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver reliable releases
• Contribute to documentation and technical decision-making
• Mentor and support other engineers

• Integrations: Payments, Open Banking, Identity/KYC services

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills

• 10+ years in software engineering
• Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js
• Proven experience with NestJS and RESTful API design
• Deep understanding of relational databases and ORM tools
• Experience with authentication (JWT, identity providers such as Cognito)
• Strong testing mindset with experience using Jest
• Confidence working with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
