About the role

Role Overview

An experienced and hands-on Integration Engineer is required to support a range of Ministry of Defence (MoD) projects. The successful candidate will join an established engineering team responsible for the delivery and support of a fully integrated Command and Control system.

The programme encompasses system design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training, and logistics support. This role involves working with both virtual and physical infrastructure components that form the backbone of mission-critical platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong systems integration experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience working within secure or defence-related environments.

Key Responsibilities
System Build & Configuration
Build and configure Windows Server 2025 environments.
Deploy and support Windows 11 operating systems.
Install, configure and integrate both Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and bespoke software.
Configure and maintain physical and virtual platform components.
Integration & Testing
Integrate software, hardware and infrastructure components.
Support platform implementation and deployment activities.
Conduct testing and verification activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical and integration issues.
Documentation
Produce clear, concise and accurate technical documentation.
Create implementation, configuration and support artefacts.
Maintain technical records and system documentation.
Incident Management & Support
Investigate faults and service issues within production environments.
Perform root cause analysis and implement resolutions.
Support deployment, testing and operational investigations.
Collaboration
Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Participate in peer reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
Provide progress updates and technical feedback to stakeholders and leadership.
Customer Support
Travel occasionally to customer locations to support deployments, investigations and testing activities.
Act as a professional technical representative when engaging with customers.
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience building and administering Windows Server environments.
Experience supporting Windows 11 operating systems.
Software integration and deployment experience.
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability.
Experience working in secure, controlled or production environments.
Understanding of software engineering and integration practices.
Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working within Defence or Government programmes.
Experience supporting Command and Control systems.
Virtualisation experience (VMware, Hyper-V or similar).
Knowledge of system deployment and acceptance testing.
Understanding of secure infrastructure and information assurance principles.
Experience integrating complex software and infrastructure solutions.
