Introduction
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected Top 50 accountancy practice for an experienced Accounts Manager / Director to join their successful team in Axminster.
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious Accounts Manager seeking a genuine pathway to Director or an experienced Accounts Director looking for a fresh challenge within a growing, people-focused firm where career progression is actively supported.
Working with a diverse portfolio of clients, you'll provide technical expertise, commercial advice, and leadership while playing a key role in the continued growth and success of the practice.
Key Duties
Manage and develop a varied portfolio of business clients.
Build trusted, long-term client relationships by acting as a strategic adviser.
Review and prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
Prepare and review corporate and personal tax returns.
Oversee VAT compliance and HMRC submissions.
Support business start-ups, company incorporations, and HMRC registrations.
Deliver proactive business and tax planning advice.
Support audit and charity/not-for-profit assignments where required.
Lead, mentor, and develop junior members of the team.
Manage workflow, review work, and ensure deadlines are achieved.
Support Directors and Partners with technical and advisory projects.
Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and grow service offerings.
Requirements
ACA or ACCA qualified.
Previous experience working at Accounts Manager level or above within an accountancy practice.
Strong experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns.
Experience managing your own client portfolio.
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Strong commercial awareness with a proactive approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Audit and charity/not-for-profit experience is advantageous but not essential.
Ambition to progress your career within a successful and growing practice.
